Personalizing Doll Packaging
I may be biased, but I think that personalized gifts are the best, especially when you can include an element of nostalgia. For Christmas, I decided to recreate my sister as one of her favorite childhood dolls, a Bratz doll. I realize that I went overboard with the personalization, but you could still achieve a similar effect by just personalizing the packaging!
I felt that the most important, and tedious, part of this project was recreating and personalizing the packaging. It was crucial to me that the updated packaging look as close to the original packaging as possible so that the doll looked believable as coming directly from the manufacturer. My goal was for my sister to open the gift and think, “Oh cute, a Bratz doll! Wait, it’s a miniature version of me!”
I started by taking a picture of the original packaging so that I could color match the background as close as possible. I went online and found a high quality vector version of the Bratz logo and was even able to locate a Bratz font for personal use. I arranged all of these elements according to how it appeared on the original packaging and printed out the final product on 8x10 photo paper through Walgreens. After gluing the new packaging to the back of the box, the majority of the redesign was done!
